Karla’s Dinner Rolls
Timeless and traditional bread that compliments any meal.
Ingredients

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

1 cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)

2 tablespoons sugar

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup mashed potatoes 1

2 tablespoons fat 2
-
1 teaspoon salt

Substitutions

For: 1 cup mashed potatoes use: leftover if possible

For: 2 tablespoons fat use: dripping, lard, or vegetable oil
Instructions

In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center.

Pour the yeast mixture, mashed potatoes, and fat into the well. Mix the ingredients until a dough forms.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.

Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal portions. Shape each portion into a roll.

Place the rolls on a baking sheet and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
